Restore individual file or directory from previous versions utility

edited June 2020 in Acrosync for Windows
I am able to successfully backup to an UNRAID server, Acrosync makes that all nice and easy.

When it comes to recovery of an individual file or directory (recursive or not), it seems painfully difficult.
I would rather not have to set up a profile in order to download the minuscule portion that I need.

Given that Windows has its own previous versions utility, through VSS/VSC, it should be possible to see previous versions of those files / directories.

Is there a way to link the backup catalog (hard links) taken/stored by Acrosync, to the VSS/VSC service?

This would effectively result in a 'time machine' like behavior in Windows which I think is currently missing.

  • I agree that per-file version history would be more convenient but when you use Acrosync as a backup solution, you are pretty much limited by what rsync can do.  There isn't really way to link hardlink-based backups with VSS/VSC.
