Explain Service and Application?

I understand that to make changes to the configuration of the service, I need to load the program in administrator mode, make the changes and exit.
If I press "Stop" on the program, will the service stop?

Why, when the program is open, does the backup happen constantly, regardless of the schedule set (I get dozens of emails).

Anything else I should know about the service and program's relationship?

No.  The service is paused when the Acrosync application is running.  You can check the status of the service in the Windows Service manager.

Check the log to see if the backup actually happens constantly.

  • I received this helpful response from tech support:

Here is how to configure the Acrosync service so it can remain running after a user logs off:

    1) Run the Acrosync GUI as administrator to configure the job (in which case the job will be saved under HKLM\Software\Acrosync\AcrosyncClient\Profile_x)
    2) The job must have the scheduler enabled and the Automatically start this profile on logon option checked
    3) You then exit the Acrosync GUI by right clicking the system tray and selecting Quit.  Otherwise it will remain running in the background
    4) The service should be running when you check its state in the Service Manager.  If the service state is paused then it means the Acrosync GUI is still running
    5) The service must be set to automatically run if you want the sync job to automatically start after a reboot.
