Acrosync Service

Hey there -

Acrosync on a Windows 2008 R2 server.

Connection is good and backups can happen. Great!

Now I'm trying to schedule as a service.

I installed multi-user and selected the option to create the service.

It did - services.msc shows the running service.

I open Acrosync and insert my parameters into a profile.

These params work fine.

When I schedule the event, I set a time, all the days; the schedule daily, run at a specific time ... the email params, tested fine ...

I logout and wait. Nothing.

I like the product and would like to use it. However, I can't seem to get this aspect of it working.

Any and all assistance appreciated.

  • I've noted that the service frequently enters a paused state. Is this normal?

  • Okay I think I figured this out:

    1. Uninstall previous attempts.

    2. Delete the acrosyncclient service manually; restart your machine if necessary.

    3. Launch the setup executable elevated: right click and run as administrator under the admin user.

    4. Select the all users option and allow it to re-create the service.

    5. In the profile config, once you set the schedule, START the service. The profile will go gray.

    6. In the system tray, right click on the Acrosync stub and QUIT.

    7. Log off.

    The interactive session will close.

The command to QUIT Acrosync does something to post your schedule and restart the service.

The service should queue up and run.

I've got it to work reliably now with SMTP config and VSS enabled in the profile.

  • When Acrosync is run as administrator, the registry is HKLM/Software/Acrosync.  Otherwise, it is HKCU/Software/Acrosync.  The service only reads from HKLM/Software/Acrosync, so you will need to run Acrosync as administrator to set up sync profiles for the service.

Also, when Acrosync is running as administrator, it will pause the service until it quits, just to avoid potential conflicts if both the service and the app are running at the same time.
  • Hello,
I am trying to execute the service but it is imposible to me.
When I have installed the last version, 1.6.581, I have followed the steps that are in this thread. But no way. I show you the configuration I have:

    Thanks
  • What is the status of the service shown in the Service Manager?

Since you're uploading T:/ which is likely a mapped drive, maybe that is because the mapped drive isn't available when the service is running?
  • Yes, it is a mapped drive. I am trying to put it in another way in the Local Directory, but I can't. How can I do it? Is it posible?

    Thanks.
  • You can create a symbolic link that points to the network share and use the symbolic link as the local directory.
