Profile Names

Hi,
I dont know if this is a bug or not, but i have observed that if you create an acrosync profile and the name of the profile is the same name as the destination directory that the profile is uploading to, that it wont run as a scheduled task.

I had 3 acrosync profiles that i wanted to run as scheduled tasks, and i noticed that they were not working when run as scheduled tasks, but worked fine when i ran them from the GUI.

I fixed this by renaming the profiles so that the acrosync profile name is not the same as the target upload folder.

I was curious if this was a known issue and i missed it in the documentation somehow ?

thanks,
Michael

  • by "run as scheduled tasks", did you mean running Acrosync from the command line or as a Windows service?

If you run a profile from the command line using the -p option, then you must assign the profile a name.  By default when the profile is created, it doesn't have a name and just shows in the tab the last component of the local directory.
  • Hi,
sorry if i did not provide enough detail.

I meant running from the command line with the -p option. I set up several scheduled tasks to backup individual folders.

the profiles had names  like, Backup, Movies, TVShows that matched the name of the target folder that i was backing up to.

as i tried to explain in a previous post, none of the profiles worked with the -p <profile name> switch if the profile name was the same as the target upload folder name.

I have observed this either from the command prompt, or as a scheduled task.

If i run the same profile from the GUI, it works perfectly.

the workaround was to rename the profile names so that they are not the exact same as the target upload folder.

My question was, if this is a bug or by design ?

    thanks,
    Michael

  • I created a profile and then assigned it a name same as the remote directory.  Then I ran Acrosync from the command line using the -p option followed by the profile name.  It worked as expected.

Is this setup the same as yours?
