Acrosync server

edited August 2014 in Acrosync for Windows
I understand acrosync is a no cygwin client used to interact with a rsync daemon.
Can acrosync act as a rsyn daemon too ?
I believe the continuous monitoring option can be useful on server side too.

Use case:

Desktop computer used to acquire media & play.
HTPC  used to play media on TV, Hifi stereo, & as a " Backup "
Both computer use window.

I understand it's not the same security as a offline backup,
but a second copy is better than nothing, and it avoid network streaming issues.

HTPC copy is live, for whatever reason player may update metadata

Media library is large, about a TB.
I'm ok with an initial hashing but I gain nothing if I have to hash it every single time.
Especially HTPC side might be underpowered for hashing a lots of data.

Ideal case would be pushing desktop change to HTPC.
If not two way sync, ignore HTPC side change.
(Pushing change revert might be ok, as long as it don't start an update war on the file)
If file has changes on both computer, then make the file the same as desktop.

Thanks you.

  • Right now Acrosync is talking the client side of the rsync protocol only.  Making an Acrosync server is in our to do list, but we won't implement the continuous monitoring option on the server side, since it will be invoked on-demand only.

Do you think an Acrosync server without the continuous monitoring option can solve your problem?
