I run into quite a few differences:

- The NAS contains IMG_nnnn files only, the iPhone remote disk shows many other files with very different names. Those filenames seem almost random (e.g. DHAC8129.jpg), they are e.g. pictures put into the camera roll by apps other then the camera such as a screenshot or a picture from WhatsApp

- The NAS contains many more IMG_nnnn files than the iPhone. It seems like those are deleted pictures.

- The NAS contains files with a names like e.g. IMG_6877.HEIC. These are life images. The iPhone USB disk has these double and shows both a movie and a picture file

Questions:

- Is there a way to backup all content of the camera roll? Does ACROSYNC for IOs backup everything? I did notice it has an option to cover deleting pictures.

- What about these .HEIC files?

I have been a happy user since the issues of missing files were resolved from a previous thread. Thanks for the great app!

Recently, I noticed that some photos were uploaded with wrong timestamp. The photo was taken last year, however it showed a timestamp of several days ago around mid night on the NAS.

When I tried to manually select photos to sync from the options, I noticed that some photos (~ 20 out of 1000) are also shown with incorrect chronological order, consistent with the timestamp issue above.

I am pretty sure that this happened recently. I can confirm that the same photo was uploaded with correct timestamp before.

The only changes I can think of:

1) iOS was updated to latest 10.1.1

2) More photos were taken

3) PhotoBackup app was updated to latest 1.7

I suspect that the iOS update is more likely to be the cause?
I have been using PhotoBackup for IOS for a few years now and I love it!!!
Recently (due to HUGE photo library sizes) apple has given us an option to "optimize iPhone storage" when it comes to photos.. What this does is it uploads the original to iCloud, Then it renders a lower quality version (thumbnail) for you to keep on your device. Then when you click on that photo to view it it will download the original from iCloud and display it for you.......
So I am concerned that PhotoBackup is backing up the lower quality instead of the Higher quality... I haven't looked at any of the photos I have backed up recently so I do not know if this is the case... Also I wanted to make sure that PhotoBackup didnt see the lower quality photo as a new photo and either back up a duplicate or even worse overwrite the original?

Thanks! let me know!

Would very willingly pay for more features!

Josh

Hi
I'm hoping to use a combo of PhotoBackup on my iPad, the Windows client and my Synology to copy the large number of photos from my iPad to the NAS and then be able to xfer to my PC, or just leave them as jpg files on the NAS. So far, I've backed up the iPad to the NAS and I can see there is backup created (using putty). I've downloaded the PC client. Am I on the right track here...?

thanks

Hi

the applicationworks well for two users at my home. Can we have an option to delete photos on the source Iphone once synced ? Deleting all photos on the Iphone seems to work in a one by one selection only. This eats time.

Thx
Dirk

Hi,

I am new to acrosync - I just tried PhotoBackup for iphone. It is great and easy to use, thanks for the good work!

A little bit of backgroup info - I have iPhone 6 64GB with IOS 9. It is almost full with pictures and long videos. There are about 1000 pciture files, and a few hundred video files. The biggest video file is about 3GB each.

I have Rsync server setup on the NAS in the deamon mode. Version 3.0.9.

After running PhotoBackup, it created three folders:

[base]/~

[base]/100APPLE

[base]/101AAPLE

The sync took about 2 hours, with no errors on the client side or in the rsync deamon server log.

However, I found out that only ~600 files were synced, so a good chunk of files were missing. Repeated sync attempts didn't find or upload any new files.

What's strange is that if I try manual selection of files to sync, I can see the missing pictures/videos in the PhotoBackup app. If I select a few to sync manully, it worked fine, with the files uploaded directly under the [base] directory on the NAS. So it feels that the app can actually find all photos, but the auto sync all somehow skipped a batch of those.

I think a rsync client is really useful for iphone. I'm happy to help iron out the issues if I can.

When using PhotoBackup for iOS on my iPhone 5s, I received the following error:

rsync: write failed on "/root/Pictures/100APPLE/IMG_0640.MOV": No space left on device (28)

This happened on my first sync between my phone and a WDMYcloud NAS.
Hello,
I just set up PhotoBackup for iOS. I run Arch Linux, so OpenSSH is not installed out of the box, but no problem there.

I have some questions and comments. Pardon me if the answers should be obvious. My chosen location for the photos is:

~/Data/iPhoneCamera

I found it very difficult to browse past Data. Sometimes I could get into the subdirectories, sometimes I gave up and just typed the path. What is the correct location on the screen and tap procedure to navigate into the subdirectory?

My local domain is called MyLastName.int and my "server" where the files go is called "nas". So technically the FQDN is nas.mylastname.int but the app finds the computer to be nas.local. (nas dot local dot) The app worked with both nas.local. and nas.mylastname.int So this is just for reference.

Is there a reason why the files get copied with permissions set to 0444 instead of 0644? When I copy pictures from the phone with Nautilus, they are saved 0644. Normally, I wouldn't care, but Nautilus and Thunar both put a big lock icon on them which kind of wrecks the preview.

During my search for an app like this, I read that some apps have the option to delete files after a backup. Is that an option which is considered? Maybe something like delete from the phone if the file is backed up and also older than X days.

Is there a way to put files onto the phone? I tried putting new pictures in the destination directory of the computer with the hope that it would copy the photo to the phone, but that didn't happen. Sometimes I like to put pictures onto the phone which were taken with another device.

Thank you for an app that is centered on *nix
